What were the Seahawks thinking when they picked The Verve‘s “Bittersweet Symphony” as their Super Bowl walkout music? They’re from a mecca of awesome rock and hip-hop music. Why didn’t they pick a tune from one of their hometown groups, instead of a gloomy British band?
Here are five songs from the Seahawks’ hometown that could have rocked their introduction a lot harder.
Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
The song might be overplayed, but this Seahawks team is bringing a brand new flavor to the NFL, just like Nirvana’s mega-hit brought grunge music into the mainstream.
Pearl Jam – “Alive”
People wondered … people whispered … people doubted, but the Seahawks are still alive!
Macklemore – “Can’t Hold Us”

The most badass musician from Seattle deserved to introduce the most badass sports team from the entire Pacific Northwest. Just sayin’…
Sir Mix-A-Lot – “I Got Game”
Of course we’d want the Seahawks to crash the field to “Baby Got Back,” but this is the NFL, and we’ve gotta be realistic…they’d never have let that song anywhere near the stadium. But this song might be the second best by the Seattle rapper.
